Late director Joel Schumacher’s Greenwich Village loft lists for $4.5M

The Greenwich Village home of the late film director Joel Schumacher has hit the market for $4.5 million. Schumacher, who died in June of cancer at age 80, was known for a diverse group of films including “The Lost Boys,” “Batman & Robin,” “St. Elmo’s Fire” and “Flatliners.”

He bought the property through a trust for $4 million in 2011.

The three-bedroom, 2½-bathroom loft is at 173 MacDougal St., an 1890 building across from MacDougal Alley and Washington Square Park.

At 2,266 square feet, the condo features oversized windows, wide plank floors and a gas fireplace.

The home opens with an entry gallery, a walk-in laundry/mud room and an open living area with floor-to-ceiling windows.

There’s also a chef’s kitchen with a windowed dining area and a master bedroom with a spa-like bathroom, complete with a steam shower, a soaking tub and radiant heated floors.

Listing broker Jeremy Stein of Sotheby’s International Realty couldn’t be reached for comment.
